sa mga panahong ganito

during the spi era, you'd be one of the blessed kung nagkataong ikaw ay untasked or waiting... you savor every second of it, 'cause an opportunity like that only comes once in a blue moon.

    and i call him tuffy

mom's boss gave my mom a big plastic container. it resembles a drinking glass, about a foot in height and 8 inches in diamter. we couldn't think of any purpose for it so mom bought an oxygen machine and 8 pairs of fishes - 2 pairs of gold, a pair of black, and a pair of bright orange fishy fishes. a makeshift aquarium it is.

we have to get water from this deepwell pump... tubig-poso ba... they'd probably die if we used nawasa water - chlorine thingy. i didn't have to say that... anyway, so the school of fishes was a happy group. i only assumed that. i wouldn't know if they're happy. nobody would. but i just assumed 'cause they're in our home and ours is a happy home.

i'm not a fan of fishy pets. i actually think they're boring! the only time i thought fishes are interesting was during the finding nemo era - 'cause fishes actually talk there! they have emotions! their faces depict joy and fear and sadness. and my favorite fish is dory (not nemo)!

ok back to the aquarium... the weeks passed and one by one, the fishes died. we'd wake up and find one floating, lifeless. at other times, they'd be found dead on the floor. sometimes, they'd mysteriously disappear... one of the unsolved mysteries that nancy drew will surely love to dig into.

one by one they passed away, until there was only one left - one of the bright orange fishes. it's been months now... and it's clear that she's the toughest of them all. i don't even know if it's a she or a he, but i prefer to refer to it as a she simply because she's the survivor hehe. she's not a weakling ba.

i'm not endeared to her. i don't even feed her. mom does. but it lightens me everyday to see her swimming, living her life to the fullest, and simply surviving - without complaining. heck, that would be lonely: living alone, restricted in a small "cage"... no one to talk to, no one to hug, no one to love, no one to smile to, no one to turn to. but she doesn't complain! if only she could...

simply put, she's my inspiration... and i call her tuffy.

teka... malabo ata, natabunan ng bubbles si tuffy... wait...

yung naka X, di si tuffy yun, some ceramic dumb fish... the orange fish, encircled in yellow is THE REAL TUFFY! go, tuffy! you rule! woohoo!

    ang muling pagtatagpo

servisoft, a couple of years ago, was this really cool business unit. i say cool 'cause the creatures thriving inside the servisoft walls are friendly and cool and a big happy family. everybody was friends with everybody and you wouldn't think twice about somebody's name because... you simply know who everybody is! and by know, i mean... really know K-N-O-W! get what i mean? i don't.

anyway, people changed. people left for a couple of reasons. by leave, i mean... leave by the dozen! sheesh... i know in everybody's heart was a worried, "i don't wanna be the last man standing here" (with matching ym worried emoticon). just before i left, the place was invaded by the new servisoft babies. i don't even know all their names... i mean, i wanted to! but there's just no way of penetrating a group this big. they remind me of a college block, so tightly knit, so happy, so young. thankful that the team of babies i worked with was a cool and sweet bunch. :) for the others, i don't have an idea and i missed the opportunity of getting to know them.

anyway again, the oldies had this dilemma of simply looking for a lunch buddy! if i couldn't find one, i'd head home for lunch. pathetic. :( i'm not the type who would eat alone. i'd probably cry.

ok... so everybody struggled to look for another company - another home. :( sad but that's the way life has to be. you say good bye and you say hello. to date, servisoft people are everywhere... scattered, ya know ;p. and it just lifts me up when i see someone i know from servisoft.

so this is the real score: last wednesday, there was a mini reunion for the makati chapter servisoft people (night shift)... you see, there's also the makati chapter regular shift and second shift. most of the attendees were from companies in RCBC plaza, nins and joy from PBCOM(?). there was a slight debate as to whether jollibee convergys is indeed halfway for PBCOM and RCBC... but yeah... it probably is and the dinner pushed through anyway. donnie was incidentally there and he completed the pack. :)

wala raw kaming sense (warning: senseless ang post na ito, coming from a senseless person)

"hihi... ano ba yan, bangag na tayo wala na tayong sense."
"lagi naman eh. kelan ba kayo nagka-sense?"

    ay... foul hirit... lemmesee... lemmesee...

if sense is something you put on your mouth everyday, no, thanks! i'd rather not have sense at all than have all sarcasm and bitterness uttered out of my lips. i'd rather say something "senseless", as you say, but positive and full of laughter than your so-called intelligent but negative and rotten remarks.

if sense is the frown you wear on your face from the moment you get here to the time you leave, no thanks! i'd rahter not have sense at all. i'd rather give out all smiles to the people around me... annoying or not. after all they're people who know how to act like people. unlike some i know.

if sense is the know-it-all attitude you project, no, thanks! i'd rather have an honest "i didn't know that. now i know :) hope i remember it" than to project that i'm cum-laude material... "sabi sayo eh" "i know that 'cause i watch national geographic"... so? as if i care. i'm no cum-laude... but does that make me less of a person than you are? ask them... let's see what they say.

if sense is the perfume you wear, no, thanks. i'd rather not comment on that... iyo na ang sense mo. i have my own. i love my own.

sense? what is sense after all? hija, iyo na sense mo ha? sorry, i sound angry. epekto ng beer? i'm non-sense and i'm proud and i'm happy about it. are you reading this? oh, i'm scared... i bet you can decipher it's you... 'cause you're smart and soooo sensible! it makes your momma proud! ooh! so?

    not-so-hidden mickeys

mickeys - they're everywhere. i don't know if the philippines (or our home, on a more local scale) is that unsanitary for mickeys of all sizes to actually live and literally mingle with people. they run around the house like little kids at play. good thing they don't destroy our things here at home... maybe they're just after food.

the most severe case i've heard was from my cousin: she was sleeping in her room (she lives in pasay, not in our house, thank goodness) and a big mickey bit her lip! on other times, it bit her daughter's nose! how severe could that sound! my goodness! and they actually saw the big mickey run away! i bet with a big evil grin on her face! syet.

it's not like we don't do anything to stunt the rising number of mickeys. here are some of the desperate and not-so-desperate moves we've tried so far:

  • wooden cage trap - way back my lolo's days, i remember he used to make these wooden trap boxes with tin doors. mickey goes inside the vault, eats the food (container = takip ng chizwiz), and the door shuts when the thread that holds the door loosens up. once trapped, we (make that my lolo) get a sack of some sort and carefully open the door to transfer mickey from the trap to the sack. after this, hampas-hambalos galore. poor mickey. if it doesn't kill him, i don't know what else will. i remember many years ago when it was hampas-hambalos time for a certain mickey, my lolo was all poised to transfer him and i was all poised too to witness the execution. sack positioned, door opens, and mickey escapes! i wailed and jumped wildly and one fatal jump killed poor mickey. asintado ang talon ko. syet na-trauma ako nun. i just killed a mickey.

  • classic mouse trap - we also resorted to these nifty wooden mouse traps. the ones with deadly metal that you have to pull back. a spring releases the metal thingy once motion is detected in any way. the drawback is, once a mickey dies on a trap, the others seem to somehow sense that a brother mickey lost his life on this thing and that this tool is not something that they should toy with... and the whole purpose of trapping mickeys is defeated. some even say that when you pour boiling water, the scent of death is removed... i say it's all too much hassle (or tamad lang ako).

  • fly trap - oh! this, i think, is an effective trap. the paper thingy with super sticky substance that traps baby mickeys - of course you have to lure them with food. sometimes a single trap could get around 3 baby mickeys. the only thing is... it's such a horrible sight to see (and hear) a baby mickey struggle to get out... with all the hair sticking to the glue, it's just so yucky and morbid. there was a time we forgot we had a trap and when we remembered, the mickey was all skeleton and decayed. yuck. and at other times, big momma mickey types get trapped but they bring the trap along and it's all gone. stupid momma mickey, running around with a fly trap on her belly.

  • rat poision - dora or racumin are the popular brands. no sweat - just put some on a piece of paper, mickey devours on the so-called feast and dies shortly. the drawback is, if they don't make it to the light, they die in the darnest corners of the house... the ones you can't see... and they would rot and smell like hell for days or weeks and would turn your tummy upside down. plus, they also sense at certain times that this is not food stuff and they ignore it just the same. there was a time when a big momma mickey is all dazed and is ready to accept her death. she came out and was just still. we didn't want to hampas her for she might run and hide and smell so we just covered her with this pail until she died. the disposal was the hardest thing to do. just imagine how you will get that creature into a plastic bag...

  • pet a kitty - a neighbor gave us a baby kitty some time ago. on the first day, we were brainwashing the kitty, "grow up to be strong and sturdy, little kitty... and go get 'em all, kitty!". and she was nodding like crazy like, "yeah, momma! i'm gonna get 'em all!". the next morning, kitty was missing with blood trails on the floor. we concluded that a big momma mickey, strong and sturdy and mighty, got our baby girl. poor kitty, we loved her for a day. she was our only hope. and she was ambushed by a mickey. how ironic. ugh.

  • claygo - clean as you go. we leave the house spic and span, thanks to cecil. counters wiped, floor all shiny and new, table-tops wiped clean, all food items kept out of mickey's reach. wa epek. they're like "heya! i'm here! watchadoin?" and run around the house like crazy! stupid pests.

  • to hell with mickeys... to hell with you all. hehe may galit.

    feasts

this weekend has been food-ful. i've never eaten that much food for a long time. i'm the type who would take a little of everything and then i get full easily. and then after just a few hours, i would get hungry again and if i don't put in food in that little tummy, i get disoriented and even tremble a little if worse comes to worst.

last friday, we were in a festive mood at the office - maybe because it's a payday (make that a paynight). we had wendy's food delivered to the office. i had bacon mushroom melt, large fries, large iced tea, and salad sampler. that may be a regular meal for a regular person, but that amount is too much for me. it sustained me for the whole night. i swear.

on saturday after work, maria and i went to the mall of asia for the bayo sale. nothing fancy there, but we both bought a pair of pants for 50% off. good buy. and had lunch at the super bowl. not too much of a feast but enough to tame the growling monsters in my tummy at that time.

saturday night, the whole gang at home (plus aira and mikey) went out for dinner for kuya's bday. we dined at friday's and i had baby back ribs. the others had their own versions of feasts. arrrgh... grabe! i was so full!!! to think the wendy's and super bowl stuff are still in my body... swimming in here somewhere! waaaah! i'm soooo full!

today's a sunday and breakfast was a feast as well. an addition to the stuff lingering (for too long) in my body now are: tuna, scrambled egg, rice, lucky me beef mami, ovaltine. arrrgh... they're all STILL here! SSSTTTIIILLL... gidiyap

    tanong tanong

i might have scared Mr. X

    characters:
caths = me! the QA girl
Mr. X = the programmer boy from FL

    setting:
caths and Mr. X are discussing this crazy report that Mr. X developed and caths is testing.
caths is having a hard time understanding the relationship between tables because of the crazy naming convention. caths has never seen anything like these out-of-this-world names!
actually Mr. X is aso having a hard time getting to know how the tables work!

note: actual table names changed. i don't want to have anything used against me at any point.

... and the chat goes ...

    [03:33] caths says:

    2 thoughts actually...

    [03:33] caths says:

    1) if LAVTED table is like peop_char, how do we know it belongs to that particular call in CMACTBL (phn_line)... for example, we have 2 valid records from CMACTBL, are we going to create all LAVTED records for each of these 2 phn_line records?

    [03:33] caths says:

    2) in the 2nd table on my email, you said we're including recs even if NANO <> 'FLAT'... i don't think we can build an output for CHEMDATA (rec 1) because there's no value in STDATA

    [03:34] Mr. X says:

ahhhh you're making my head hurt

    [03:34] Mr. X says:

you're assuming I know these tables

    [03:34] Mr. X says:

my meeting was canceled by the way

    [03:35] caths says:

sorry... my head is aching too... my ears are bleeding, btw

    [03:35] caths says:

    hehe

    [03:35] Mr. X says:

    yikes

    [03:35] Mr. X says:

um, you should have that checked out

    [03:35] caths says:

    jk

    [03:35] caths says:

    ;p

    [03:35] Mr. X says:

    phew

    [03:35] caths says:

my ears aren't bleeding... only my nose

    [03:36] caths says:

    haha

    [03:36] Mr. X says:

you have a crazy sense of humor

    * scared him, didn't i? :)

    the absence of the sun

the sun's been sober for a couple of days now. that should be a good news for a vampire like me. days are cooler... and though the sun peeps every now and then, days ARE INDEED cooler than those during the summer time - which is only a few weeks ago.

i've always been a sucker for the sun. i dunno how it could somehow affect my mood. like the moon affects lunatics? maybe.

sunny days = happy days... therefore, rainy days = sad days. and i've been down for the past few days. i've been the most senseless thinker - make that worrier.

i'm worrying about the wrong things. though i am very thankful for all my blessings, and for the fact that my family and i are not experiencing any hindrances to being happy and content, something's bugging me. those are probably coming from the deep crevices of my brain... you know, the corners where the worries and paranoias are situated... the corners i dare not visit. but i do go there with or without my intent... and the worse thing is... i linger there.

    ang pangarap kong mindoro dance

mindoro scandal - has been buzzing around for quite some time now. i haven't seen the film... until last, last week. nagkatuwaan sa office na i-view ang film... asus. and so they say, magaling raw yung girl. true indeed! ay sus. grabe. napapa "omaygadsyet" yung jologs na lalake. aysus! parang pati kami, napapa omaygadsyet na rin...

there was this scene where the girl was performing this sexy dance. not the super halay dance... simpleng dance lang. sabi ni papa alex, ganun raw ang mga dance routine sa mga club kaya most probably, the girl works sa night club. whatever. i like! hehe! kaya lang, the girl was hubo sa taas... she was wearing this black pambaba and high sandals... pang club talga hehe!

ayos talga ang dance. simpleng giling lang hindi oa - to the tune of "thank you" by dido. konting practice lang, kaya ko rin siguro yun haha! tinawag namin itong mindoro dance. at simula nun, nabuo na ang pangarap kong sayawin din ang mindoro dance sa harap ng magiging asawa ko. hehe.. pero! ayoko nang hubo. dapat may saplot sa taas at sa baba kahit konti... para di mahalay... masyado. bwahaha! watadream! wag na si mike... i'll spare him... baka hiwalayan ako pag pinilit kong panoorin nya ko bwahaha! dun na lang sa magiging asawa ko at least tatanggapin ako nun kahit ano pang pangarap ko ang isakatuparan ko. ayus! raaarrr!

    * i swear, "thank you" by dido always brings this wicked grin on my face na! "uy, mindoro dance yan!" sabi ng boses sa isip ko.. raarrr! hahahaha!

musings of a lady (nasobrahan ng pagbabasa ng dracula)

  • on the dark side of twilight last night, i (along with my good fellows at work) had for supper roasted chicken and rice and creamy dairy product mixed with freshly shaved ice. these were courtesy of the good-hearted gentleman, diosdaddy, who will bid us farewell soon to spread his wings on the vast world. alas! it is with no doubt that we are going to miss the kindest soul in diosdaddy's being, but it is with the boldest courage that he must go.... and we send him away with all our love.

(dinner kami kagabi sa office... lechong manok, kanin, ice cream. libreng chibog ni diosdaddy. nagresign na kase sya waaaah! mamimiss ka namin, diosdaddy!!!! huwaaaaaah!)

  • after the hearty supper, i directed all of my strength doing that which supports my living. yes, i kept myself busy conversing with madam beth and mr. eric just so we could guarantee that the produce of our efforts is free of error. true, to err is human.... but i try to do my best in my undertakings, and hope, that by God's will, all will turn out to be pleasant... if not, then i may wail out a piteous cry!

after chibog, super busy sa work... QA ever... chika kay beth at eric... make sure ever na walang mali ang codes... sana nga wala... tigok ako... dedders ba... pag may mali yun argh.

  • 6 a. m. - oh! it almost slipped my forgetful mind that it is wednesday to-day! i do not intend to forget! it must have slipped my mind whilst i was putting all my efforts at work. i gathered my belongings and tidied myself to go to the church to pray the novena. afterwhich, i rode a carriage, that which will take me to my beloved home... where the comforts of my bed are waiting with arms wide open. it was no wonder that there is a heavy flow of carriages. alas! it is indeed wednesday - the day when devotees flock to church to pray for their earnest wishes and desires. heavens, give me srength for i am feeling the pangs of hunger. it has been some time since my body was nourished with hearty supper.

muntik ko na makalimutan arrrgh! wednesday pala ngayon. busy kase... mega ligpit ng things tapos off to church for the novena na. tapos... commute to go home na. traffic!!! wednesday kse eh... paksyet! gutom na gutom na ko! waaah!

  • at long last! all my waiting was not put in vain for i am now in my home... oh, my sweet home. i hurriedly washed my hands to rid of the dirt that i might have acquired whilst hurrying home. i then rushed to the dining room where my food is waiting for me. thank you, dear mother, for preparing such a sumptuous meal! i took big bites, almost un-lady like, i must say. but i doubt it somebody is out there to witness my poor soul feasting on such a lovely meal, and even if there is indeed someone out there, i put all worries aside.... i have to satisfy myself even only for to-day! i need to be nourished after a long, tiring day!

  • after that rather delightful supper, i sit here, all poised and groomed because i am very much satisfied. and i write this entry to my journal.... ah, memories so sweet and fond (and sometimes bitter) - i record them all so i will have as i age keepsakes in my heart.... i speak only that of what is true! and now i must go to the toilet to tidy myself. i must regain my strength for to-night is another adventure i will take! whilst everything is still, i shall be alive! but for now, whilst everything is alive, i shall be still. good-bye!

blog blog... kahit walang kwenta... syet.. maglilinis na ko waaah! matutulog na ko antok na! night shift pa ko mamya babush!

on cars, guen the indian girl, and my oldest friend

    on cars

saturday - i promised mikey i'll sleep as soon as i get home so we could go out around after lunch. so it was cars day. good film. although i doubt it kids won't get lost in the story, it was pretty hilarious and ummm... it made me cry. haha what won't? amazing how cars could be animated with feelings and grooves and all. after cars, off to good dinner and then to landmark to buy some stuff... all that with only an hour of sleep. i swear, dead na dead ako when we got home argh. i could have slept a little longer if mikey didn't wake me up at 1030am argh! he called me up and i thought it was 1130 na and time for me to wake up na but it was only 1030 waaah! never got back to sleep. and i never stopped making paawa... ginising mo kse ako 1 hour lang tuloy tulog ko :( hehe. "oo na kasalanan ko na." hehe i love hearing that. always. never fails to lift me up.

    on guen the indian girl

for so long now, maricor and guen and i have been planning for a day-out or gimik or whatever-just-to-meet-up event. so far, nothing's pushed through... haha! the last time we 3 all met was ash wednesday, had ashes drawn on our foreheads and a quick dinner here at home and then a thousand and one attempts to meet up again. we were supposed to finally meet yesterday, 4pm at the mall of asia to watch a movie and have dinner. all's set although maricor and i were both tired and we'd rather stay home to rest, nagkahiyaang mag cancel just to meet guen. at 4pm, i was already there when i received a message from guen saying her mom got dizzy and she had to stay home... haha! no sweat family first. maricor and i ended up watching lake house and buying a few stuff and eating dinner... magbonding ba ulit? e super bonded na kami going to work everyday! haha it was fun though! lake house, a bit dragging with all the conversation... but good plot. and off to plan another attempt to see guen. hihi.

    on my oldest friend

thecx is here! this is her first time to visit home after nine years (?). dig this... she has been my classmate since nursery till 4th year HS. and we're on the same course for the first year at college, though different majors and she had to go to the states na rin before the 2nd year ata. we wouldn't have known that we went way back nursery if we didn't see that photo during nursery... we were both playing the roles of angels for a christmas play on stage. hihi neat, eh! i guess i was too timid and shy and all to be friends with anybody back then but the friendship's been there since i could remember it and it will always be just there till whenever. see you soon! 2 weeks is too short a stay but better than nothing, friend. :)

    iMax to the max

monday = independence day = holiday. ma, kuya, aira, and i went to the mall of asia to try the iMax theater. i've heard a couple of feedback that it was worth it and it's quite an experience. the only films available were documentaries: everest (2D) and nascar (3D). diosdaddy told me to try out 3D instead of 2D. so nascar it is. it was boring. i'm not interested in racing, much more, the history of racing haha!

i wasn't really fascinated listening to the facts but i was amazed viewing the graphics... hihi very entertaining. i observed that iMax is better viewing animation films... like happy feet! hihi there was a trailer of happy feet and i hope it's coming soon.

we also bought advanced tickets for superman in 3D woohoo! show date is july 1. can't wait to get dizzy and get all that headache for 2 hours! woohoo!

    now that's something different

last sunday, mikey and i were all bored doing the same stuff... watching movie, tambay sa bahay, ikot-ikot sa mall... he called me and told me to bring a swim suit (he didn't tell me to bring a towel, i swear! he insisted he told be to bring one... he didn't!!!) and sandals and we'll go to this water spa somewhere in QC.

hmmm... ok, the ladies' shower room was a-ok! super neat and orderly! flawless haha walang kapintasan. so i changed into my swim suit. i brought a 2-piece swim suit, a spag strap top, and board shorts. i thought i'll just take the spag strap top off before dipping into the pool. on my way to the pool/spa, there was an assistant who inspected my outfit and she told me that my top wasn't allowed and my shorts too... she told me that i should just wear my 2-piece... sorry, house rules. arrgh! ako'y mahiyain! waaah! couldn't do anything, could i? good thing it was the shorts type of suit. waaaah!

other than the attire scandal, everything was perfect. there was a lazy pool, bonding kami ni mikey, chismisan parang girls hihihi! whatda. and then, there were a number of hydrotherapy massage areas in the pool. super satisfied. we tried them all super sarap woohoo! and then, there were also 3 herbal hot pools. hay super ok talga! there was also sauna and steam pero we didn't try those out 'cause somekinuva init. no, thanks! haha. a couple more rounds in tha lazy pool and a few laps in the long pool and we're out. super relaxing. we had a deal to go there at least once a month to just hang out and relax and be all good :)

it was still early so we went to gateway to watchamovie na rin. failure to launch - hilarious. crazy film hihi. i'm not a fan of sarah jessica parker, but yeah i actually think she's cute and funny now. nice.

it was a good day. unique day. fun day. made me bond with and love my guy more. :)

napatawad ko na ang body shop (at ang seaweed set)

i've had this body shop hype when i learned they're on an anniversary sale. i heard you could buy an item and purchase the 2nd for only P10. so i made a research online of what i'll probably buy. i thought i need cleanser, toner, and moisturizer and there's this seaweed set. i thought if it'll cost 500 per item, it's not that bad as long as they come in goodie big sizes.

so last saturday, maricor and i went to divi to buy wedding keepsakes for a friend. and then we proceeded to the mall of asia (of course we assumed the mall will open at 9am).

a few minutes before 9, we were walking the halls of the super jumbo mall of asia. syempre 10 pala ang bukas nya. so we were 2 of the jologs people there na naghihintay magbukas ang mall. how naturally jologs. asus. ang saya! (as i earlier said, jologs is fun!)

but hey, we didn't go there sleepless and all straight from work to go home empty-handed. jologs na kung jologs... we waited for the mall to open. 10 am na, mega open na ang mega shops. 1st stop was the ice skating rink. and we promised ourselves we'll try that out some day. try everything while you're alive!

and then, we spotted body shop woohoo! seaweed set, here i come! ok... ang mahal! ah eh... ok... ang liit. yeah it was 500 a piece... argh. it's not practical! inyo na ang seaweed nyo! di ko kayo mapapatawad habang nabubuhay ako. hahaha... oh well. ang seaweed ko, nauwi sa neutrogena set which cost around 900. not too expensive plus i could definitely use it for more than a month.

this morning, while having breakfast with maricor, i silently told myself, "body shop, napatawad na kita." and then i threw her the question... "maricor, napatawad mo na ba ang body shop?" she was supposed to buy this body scrub at P800 and like me, made some sense and decided to trash the thought. and then she answered, "hinde!hindi ko sila mapapatawad! babalikan ko yun at bibilhin ko yun some day!!!"

oh well... whatever. sigi patawarin ko na lang kesa bilhin hahaha.

p.s. napatawad ko na rin si lola rose reyes. i'm not sure if she could reciprocate this same gift... but yeah... no more grudges, jose. este, rose.

    the irony of it all

last sunday, during mass, i was in charge of the 1st, 2nd readings, and prayers of the faithful. 1st and 2nd readings went well. i was reading the prayers of the faithful and it went something like...

"isama po natin sa ating panalangin ang mga sumusunod na intensyon:
    blah...
    blah...
    para sa ating flower sponsors:
    blah...
    JOSE reyes
    blah..."

before the communion, an elderly woman tapped me on the shoulder. with a stern face and all the burdens of the world, she sourly scowled at me and said, "ROSE yun, hindi JOSE!"

i stared at her blankly and after a couple of seconds, i realized that she was referring to a certain name on prayers of the faithful. so i looked at the paper i just read over the mic and realized that, yup, it was my mistake. i said "jose" instead of "rose". i dunno why that happened. maybe i was still sleepy, maybe my eyes (and brain combo) were blurry, or maybe i was plainly stupid. whatever. it was a mistake.

i was slowly processing how i would react to the rather ugly remark (and the following will show you how i just sinned in my thoughts).
  • i was tempted to flash her a bright smile and tell her, "if you're so sincere with your flower offering, why do you want the whole world to hear your name? it's just a name. it's the intention that counts."

  • i was tempted to be really bitchy and give her a fiery look and say, "i'm not sorry i read your name wrong. you should be thankful i did not put your name in the 'repose of the souls section'"

  • i could just forget what just happened and go on with my life and eliminate her completely in my system.

  • arrrgh... i'm not a good girl but it doesn't mean i'm bad (does it?)... so naturally, i eliminated those wicked thoughts. i don't have the guts to execute them anyway. put down your defenses and apologize, girl. it was, after all, my fault. so sorry it is. after the mass, i looked for granny and tapped her on the shoulder. i almost backed out 'cause i saw that her face still had the sour frown, as if ready to bark. this was after the mass, remember!

but i had to do it... "pasensya na po kayo ha, mali ang nabasa ko".

heaven and earth crashed. she angrily nodded and roared, "e palpak naman ang misa ngayon eh! yung ama namin, dapat kantahin, hindi kinanta! yung pangalan ko, naging jose! blah blah blah..." she went on roaring to the parish secretary why her name was read as jose.

and i left. nothing i could do with a clashing gong. i've done my part.

i'm not pious. i'm not the ms-goody-two-shoes type. i'm a sinner (proofs are enumerated above). i have sinned through my own fault in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do. hehe nagdasal... well, the bottom line is, it's just so ironic how we behave that way inside church. what more when we're outside? i'm not exempting myself here. haha! i'm guilty as hell... :(

    on roses and prayers

two months since my last post. hihihi... what can i say?

a couple of weeks ago, jheng told me stories about st. therese and roses. you pray to st. therese and you could either ask questions or make a wish and then you could ask for roses as a sign that she favors on saying yes to your question or granting your wish. my section during 1st yr HS was st. therese but i forgot about her story. all i coud recall was that she was associated with roses.

2 weekends ago, mikey and i went with kuya and aira to the mall of asia... get along with everybody else's hype. geez it was sooo crowded we decided to go to glorietta after all to watch xmen. we left aira and kuya in the crowd hehehe.

ok... mikey had this bad, bad headache and he was bitching about it. mega sungit. i asked him, "mapula ba mukha ko?" 'cause i was really conscious if i might have applied too much blusher. ay irritation ang mama, and he answered "hindi" even though he hasn't even glanced at my face yet. ay... pissed of ang lola! away na 'to! ayoko nang sinusungitan ako... if you're a bitch, ay mas bitch ako... hihihi... edi mega dedma na nga. he was trying to say sorry, and i was just nodding my head and he claimed i was making him irap! hehe syempre deny ako. well, i might have made irap at some point... kainis eh.

ohwell, so we were in a taxi, making suyo and dedma (tahimik ito hindi naman kami gumawa ng eksena sa taxi hehe) and i recalled about st. therese. and i said a silent prayer... please show me a rose if he's the one for me. but then we were along edsa and it was most probable that we'll see those little children selling roses... so i made bawi the prayer... ay, st. therese, yellow rose na lang kse madali lang pag red rose... and with that, we got to glorietta without seeing any rose... wala.

so i forgot about it... and i was slightly making pansin mikey na... pero that doesn't mean hindi na kami inis sa isa't isa. ohwell...

just to give a background, mikey isn't the i'll-give-you-roses-everyday type. i know that there's this single instance he sent me a dozen of red roses during our 1st yr anniv last may. other than that, even if we've had a couple of fights, he makes up by saying what i need to hear or doing what he needs to do.

ok so going back, after we bought our movie tickets, he started with the saying-what-i-need-to-hear part and i was cooling down na... and all of a sudden, he said "teka lang dyan ka lang"... and ran off somewhere... it turned out, he ran off to buy a rose... syet!!! the prayer! and i was standing there, speechless and all and teary-eyed 'cause i could not believe it. but.. it was a pink rose, not a yellow rose. we happened to be standing in front of a furniture shop and i told him about the prayer and the yellow rose. he told me na wala naman yellow rose dun sa flower shop... and i turned around and faced the furniture shop, and there it was, a bouquet of yellow roses. and he told me, e hindi naman binebenta yan e, display yan! hehehe my prayer was, after all, "show me" not give me...

my wisdom (1 of 4) is gone

    * para sa post na ito, pasintabi sa mga kumakain...

mwehehe! so i'm back and alive, not yet kicking though. i don't want blood gushing out of my gums.

my dentist recommended that we extract the upper left tooth first (the right one isn't giving me pains and discomfort, btw). the impacted lower teeth could follow some other time and they have to be taken out via surgery.

thursday, 130 pm, wawin and i headed off to the dentist. i've never seen someone so beautiful and so kind at the same time... i'm starting to think my dentist is an angel hihihi.

i could barely recall the last time i had a tooth extraction. all i could remember was i was wailing so loud the dentist back then was kinda imbyerna na... kinakatay na baboy... yan ang term ng mom ko sakin.

but now, syempre, mahinhin na ko, mayumi, kimi... (and a loud laugh. don't!) so i was really reserved the whole time even though my heart was pounding like hell. i told doc angel that i was nervous so she didn't show me the anaesthesia syringe and she told me to close my eyes.

2 sharp but tolerable pangs of needle pain followed, which was not that bad! yeeey! and then she had to fill in 2 teeth with pasta while waiting for the numbing effect of the drugs.

and then... came the extraction... she first loosened the tooth's grip on my gum using those various pointed objects, i dunno what the heck they call that... yeah... however painful that may sound, i don't care! 'cause i didn't feel pain but i was fully aware that something cruel was being done to my tooth. all i knew was.. tinutuklap ang ngipin kong mahigpit pa ang kapit dahil 'di pa sya tapos tumubo. darn it. and then i felt the tooth semi-dangling... argh... so she took the pliers-like instrument and vigorously pulled the tooth... syet i could feel it! only there's no pain... only a few sounds of cracking enamel and heck knows what...

so there! the tooth's gone, but she also cut off this thing she called follicle. it was a bit painful so another dose of anaesthetics was injected to my gums. and it's done!

she gave me the tooth as a souvenir. she told me i could keep all four, put it in a frame. hmm... i could put a title... what does not kill me makes me strong. hehe drama. sus ipin lang eh.

i didn't go to work last night. i'm kinda bloody and super uncomfy. i slept soundly, though! and then... today, it's not bleeding like crazy and i didn't take in my pain killer pill! yey! grabe. i consider this a milestone, promise! it may be kinda babaw... pero it IS something for me... oh wait! i have 3 to go pa pala! sows! sisiw...

here's the tooth... the darned tooth...

    ang mumurahin naming electric bill

they say all prices go up... yeah, there's even an increase in credit card interest rates. i don't feel confident if i only have 100 pesos left in my wallet. i buy a few groceries and ask later on... where did my money go?

water bill, cable bill, phone bill, they constantly increase... but not our electric bill. wanna know how much our monthly electric bill has been for the past few months? f i v e p e s o s. there was an increase the other month. how much? s i x p e s o s... hehe cool? super!

a few months back, we had to blink a thousand times before we convinced ourselves that we really have a five-peso electric bill. we checked the electric meter outside our house and noticed it's broken... it's not moving a nano-inch. haha.

mom called meralco and informed them that they should go check our meter. they said yeah, yeah... and sa awa ng mga particles sa universe, they haven't checked it out yet. mom called them thrice already... no action. gosh... this is the first time we don't complain to poor customer service. haha. for all we care, we could go on like this for years... it's ok. take your time in responding to our request. hahaha!

our neighbors are laughing at us... "why did you report it?" at kung pwede lang siguro nila kaming batukan for reporting it, may mga monthly follow-up pa para ayusin nila ang metro namin, haha... baka duguan na kami. well, we've done our part. we've let them know about it... but until they take action, we're enjoying our five-peso bill!! woohoo!

paranoia - from mild to severe

my first bus ride alone... after the nakaw-cellphone incident, that is. well... it was really traumatic. i couldn't get myself on an fx or a bus last week 'til last night. i was afraid that i might see those bad guys again.

i battled that lightning doesn't strike twice... but these guys are not lightning! hehe... and if i'd be really malas, they might just pick on me again. i hate the "ibigay mo na lang. wala ka namang magagawa eh." thinking. yeah... i don't care about your reasons! this is hard-earned money we're talking about and what gives you the right to just take away things from people? you're a bad person with an ugly heart!

i hate it that we'll just live by that thinking. what... you ride a bus and then some guys who have all the brains and strength in the world will just do tricks on you and land with your possessions... argh... i may have been careless... but i pay my taxes however unreasonable they amount to. i obey laws... don't i, at least, have the right to feel a good amount of security when get home from work? hehe... galit na galit eh. parang naninikip na ang dibdib ko hehehe

well, i made it safely this morning. i held my bag like my heart and my blood vessels were connected to it... and i was really cautious, giving people that "don't you dare put gum on my hair... don't you dare get my pangkaskas 'cause it's mine". i probably would get into trouble giving people that look... but i don't care! just don't take my things.

pre-nakaw paranoia level: ok lang... praning ako
post-nakaw paranoia level: syet... todo na to! maximum level na ang kapraningan ko!

    araw ng pamilya

another indicator that kuya has indeed changed into a MAN... he treated us all to a sumptuous lunch yesterday. we asked him what's up... and he said wala lang... he just wanted to treat us all. hihi ayos ka talga! so aira and mikey were invited to share the meal with us. we are family ang dramang ito haha.

the original plan was to go to the new sea side area along macapagal... aling tonya's place makes the best crab recipe! pero... the head count's 7, the car aircon is sira, and we would be packed like hell if we all went there... so modify the plan: kuya will fetch aira, drop ma, mikey, and me off sm while we shop for groceries, and then derecho nang seaside sa baclaran to buy food and eat at home na lang.

yummy crab! grabe! daming aligi! syet... nakabara na sa mga ugat-ugat namin yun! makukulit kayo ah! good luck!

bakit ba? enjoy life! haha watda... masaya ang araw na ito. after the super hearty but unhealthy meal, tulugan na ang lahat... siesta ba. mikey and i slept together... hihi! sa sala lang naman sa sofa bed! at mga 6 inches ang pagitan... and when i move closer, or hug him, alarm alarm ito! he told me to move farther haha! it's like i have ketong! hello! takot na takot eh! di ka naman babarilin ng kuya ko sus. bwahaha he's so funny!

and then... kuya made buyo me to buy a new cellphone. he reasoned that if we used our aged pangkaskas ng yelo aka nokia 7650 phones, bibigay na rin 'to sooner or later. he knows of a place where they'd pay you 3k for your 7650... and then we could buy one of those tiny flip-top phones... the ones that sell for 8.5k, 1-year to pay, at 0% interest... that would be 695 a month... panalo na diba! well, it would appear 5.5k lang bec 3k yung pangkaskas... and 695 a month is all good!

so ang mga lovebirds... aira kuya, mikey and me sugod sa glorietta. we found the perfect phone... nothing fancy... just a cam... doesn't even have IR or bluetooth... but it will do... :) as long as it'll serve its purpose... call, text, and a few pics on the side. all perfect! aight! kaso lang... only 1 unit left so i let kuya have it and the stocks'll come up this wed pa raw. pangkaskas muna ko 'til then. haha!

    sunday's all good!

what goes up must come down

i lost my phone... let me put it this way. somebody stole my phone.

i was on my way home this morning. i rode the bus. i sat beside a guy on a three-seater seat. somewhere along buendia, a man with a backpack sat to my right. suspicious? a little he looks like a karpintero... a mama built talga.

i took my phone, sent mikey a text message, waited for his reply, and kept the phone back to my bag. manong carpenter-looking inched his bag towards me. suspicion alarm: high!

suddenly, a man behind me tapped my shoulder and told me that gum is stuck on my hair. and there's the attention grabber! i thanked him politely and i didn't fuss about the gum on my hair. nothing i could do at that moment anyway. i was thinking i need a lot of oil to get the darned mess off my hair. it was probably during that time when manong carpenter-looking somehow took my phone.

when i got home, i cleaned up my hair and thought of checking my phone. and surprisingly, i wasn't surprised to find out my phone is gone... flashback... darn it. there was a replay of how things might have transpired back there. darn it. i trembled... trembling still at this moment. although i'm thinking clearly now, my body trembles involuntarily. para bang gutom... paksyet gutom ata ako eh.... hindi kakakain ko lang ng breakfast... i really am trembling.

i tried to call my number... surprise surprise! "the subscriber cannot be reached..." wahaha! it cannot be reached because i'm here and my phone is somewhere else!! arrrgh! darn it.

darn it darn it darn it

anyway, i reported the lost phone and ms. globe disconnected the line today.

    darn it.

a couple of things that made me smile... my mp3 player is still here... my wallet is still here... i'm alive! and scratch-free! only... he had to stick gum on my hair!

hmmm... wait and see. there's a thing i believe on and it's called karma... red my leps k-a-r-m-a. :)

    * he might wake up one day... and find out his hair is made of gum... and no amount of oil could remove it. bwahahahaha! or his hand might turn to gum... more cellphones could stick to his hands that way. bwahahahaha! and the phones will ring and attract lightning! ang mr. gum-boy-carpenter-looking will be zapped... but he'll not die. he'll just be zapped everytime the phones ring! and he can't get rid of the phones 'cause those are stuck on his hands. luvely thought! darn it.

i'll wait for phone donors 'til friday. mwehehe... in cash or in kind. pag wala pa rin by saturday, buy na ako... this is a no-fun thought. argh

    ang kwintas ni lola

last week, i dropped by cecil's "room" to tell her i'm leaving for work. she was combing her hair. she pointed at something on the floor beside lola's old aparador. it was a necklace.

"ate, tunay yang kwintas na yan?" she asked.

"ay! kay lola yan!" i replied. (just a side note: my lola passed away last 1994) and cecil was frightened she almost freaked out.

i tried to make some sense out of it... how could lola's necklace come out of the padlocked aparador? hmmm... she said she was certain it wasn't there when she swept the floor the other day.

ma said she's 100% sure she neatly kept all of lola's stuff in that aparador many years ago. we could not fathom how it could come out... we don't even know where the key of that aparador is right now... lola, are you trying to tell us something? hmmm... we're a bunch of scoobydoo people... weaklings... arrrgh... don't scare us please. :)

here's the necklace... if i remember it right, tita marie gave it to lola some time ago.

i always thought our house was ghost free... well, my lola is not a ghost... she's my lola. hihi... but lately, there have been a couple of freaky stuff around that's why kuya sleeps in ma's room lately hahaha! duwag! well, good thing i sleep during mornings. :)

    farewell part2

for the second time in my lifetime, i'm saying goodbye to donna... they say there should be no goodbyes, but if you come to think of it, it really is GOODBYE... :(

no more 1 hour average of chika over the phone.

no more frequent trips to the rest room and pantry for water.

    no more nasty talks.

    no more she's-just-an-arm-length-away-anyway thoughts.

last thursday was the first night without donna. when i came in, i saw her empty chair and table... it was the saddest view. i didn't cry... just because i know that was what she wanted... maybe not... but she had to hold on to her decision.

people come. people go. friends come. friends don't go. :)

so lapastanganin muna natin ang testing room... one of the few moments left with donna:

looking at something... can't remember what it is.

    family pic?

    happiness is...

  • waking up each morning knowing i'm given another chance to live and love

  • realizing that i was sooo wrong thinking that way... and everything's so right now

  • having the best mom in the world, the best brothers in the world, the best bf in the world, the best friends in the world

  • being able to share the tiny whatevers i have

  • being blessed with good health for now

  • not having that much to worry about the complications of life

  • "i could not ask for more"... is soo sooo true

  • i dunno what makes me feel so happy lately... maybe because everything is just in its proper place and order... not that i wouldn't want to welcome any chaos or disarray... but... i'm just so happy for now. :)

    awww

saturday... kuya and aira went to st. francis square to shop for whatevers.

i woke up at 3pm to get ready for char and ate maj's bday party. kuya and aira arrived at around 430 and he handed me a blouse (pic above). and i asked him what that was for. he said he saw these really cheap but nice blouses and he thought of mom and me.

awww... he's changed a lot over time. he wasn't really that much thoughtful in the past... and he would always give that "i don't care" look and attitude. for the past few years, however, he's transformed into someone whom i could really be proud of... acting more like a big bro now... and i love my kuya more each day... 'cause everyday, he strives to be a better person. he's done a great job so far. mwah!

    mine are trivial

what's wrong with the world today? make that philippines, on a local scale...

turn on the tv and sad, devastating, draining news are thrown at you...

  • the last ultra stampede victim was buried the other day. the agony for those left behind does not end there though.

  • families of those buried alive in the leyte mudslide are losing hope that there is still life beneath the monstrous dirt.

  • can't imagine how an entire village was engulfed in mud... and they were helpless.

  • another mud/landslide in zamboanga... illegal loggers blamed...

  • loggers gain at the expense of human life... not too much life... only 1,800+ just ditched in dirt. and some more when other mountains collapse soon.

  • mayon volcano shows signs that it will errupt some time soon.

  • students of st. andrew's school rushed to hospital for mercury poisoning.

  • magdalo group threatens malacañang of a bloody event on friday. residents near malacañang advised to vacate the area by friday.

  • makes me think...

    ~ my rants are trivial.

~ there are bigger issues in the world than my sighs and "problems"... or are they problems at all?

~ there are other people with worse burdens than my so called personal dilemmas.

~ so when i feel like complaining, i will swallow them instead.

~ my private circle is a mere dot amidst the vast matters of the universe that ACTUALLY MATTER.

~ and IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT ME.

jimela - gives the best hugs in the world for free!

the best life lifter... jimela. what's more? jimela gives the sweetest hugs and kisses! she calls me ate tat and kuya says she always looks for ate tat. can i just keep you? hihi...

    staring sternly

found an interesting piece at the bus on my way home from work. looks like a screw or something and i noticed it was staring at me. hihi paranoid?

    sleepful on post-vday

this is becoming a journal of my sleeping pattern... how interesting. argh.

9am, my body was dying hehe. i was really tired and i had to lie down and be dead for a while. i had a couple of startling moments 'cause it's beginning to feel like summer here... and i moved closer to the fan... and drowned back to sleep.

by 6pm, my alarm rang and... i snoozed it - every 9 minutes until 8pm. lousy girl.

    sleepless on vday

*yawn... i've been trying to get some sleep since 9am. time check: 2pm. what's wrong with me... feeling a little hot... and when i turn the fan on, i feel cold. sigh. my mom gets these signs... 'cause she's menopausing. could it be... i'm menopausing too? hihi.

hey! it's valentine's day! happy valentine's day, everyone! it's a nice day (except for the absence of sleep. darn it)...

hmmm... got my mom orange roses. nice... so bright! :) there are ferreros from kuya and strawberry pudding from ma. this day (and the following more days) will be sweet hihi. craving for blueberry cheesecake too!

no date tonight - work instead... neither for the coming weekend - my fartner's on an outing.

    i sooo want to sleep...

thinking about it... thinking about it... give me strength and courage. i won't mind... would i? think more...

    manila girl -- NOOOT!

how i feel today: very full. yum... relaxed... at the same time frustrated. can't seem to find my copy of smallville 05-5. yeah... i'm waaaay behind! frustrated pa because of waiting... ever!

yesterday, maricor and i went back to dangwa to finish off the trade for my friend's flowers (yaigs iba sa pandinig). on my way home, i found the post office in lawton. maricor's instruction last wednesday was to get off the fx when i see the post office. problem is, i don't know where the post office is... so there it was... nakita ko nga sya. how could i not know a structure so grand?

i realized that though i grew up in manila (pque, that is), there are so many places up (semi)north that i'm not aware of. i mean lawton and sta. cruz and quiapo are mere board signs i see in vehicles but i don't really know where they are (back then). the farthest i'm familiar with is vito cruz... isama mo na ang pedro gil - when, way back college, we would "wander off elsewhere" (in short mag cut ng class to watch movies hehe. ay mas mahaba pala un).

when was the last time i visited luneta? or have i actually been there? manila zoo? the national museum? planetarium? so many places to go to... so little time and so little knowledge hehe.

but hey! can i just add that i'm a pro in paranaque and las pinas? i know a little of makati and cavite and valenzuela and sta. rosa (ay via shuttle pala yun) and... ummm... i can go to mindoro and puerto galera by myself! haven't tried that yet though. ummm... and i've travelled from ohio to new york (and back) ALONE! hehe!

well... i'm not a manila girl after all... ano ako then? probinsyana? bwahaha!

    in a world of flowers

how i feel today: i feel so tamad. i dunno why, but i really had to drag myself out of bed tonight. anyways, i'm here at the office now and i'm psyching myself that this will be a beautiful day... and i'll be productive today.

somebody asked for a favor... that somebody asked me to canvass for a couple of flowers for that somebody's lover for valentine's day hihihi. oh well, i've done a couple of inquiries and some are kinda expensive pa rin... so maricor and i went to dangwa this morning just to ask around.

and well, it was a wonderful sanctuary of flowers... perfect sana kaso there are just some people who intend to deceive and take advantage of unsuspecting consumers.

si manong. i told him about the plan. he estimated this amount but i wasn't familiar with the trade there so i thought it was a good deal. i gave him my number and all. we noticed though that he was insisting for a down payment even if i clearly told him i need my friend's approval first... and he insisted that we go home na. well probably so we couldn't ask around.

kami pa? e stubborn kami?! bwahaha... so ayun. mega inquire pa kami sa iba... and true enough, overpriced and estimate ni manong. for the other shop, i'll call it manang's shop (hehe very creative names i've got here), the estimate was half that of manong's estimate... bad manong.

well, i still need my friend's approval before i go for it. so i'll probably go back tom. the problem is, what if manong sees us? hihi. i better wear a trashbag on my head. shucks... makapili itu.

    a little bit of everything

  • yesterday... was perfect. =) the start was not-so-good... but it ended well. =) all smiles.

  • the aftermath of the stampede... still devastating but we all have to move on and learn from all these.

  • i was blog-hopping last night. clicked on the next blog button and random blogs popped up... and i left comments to people i don't know... =) i was amazed at how diverse people could be. nice to read others' thoughts.

  • i had a dream about this street number. it was so clear and the number was stuck in my mind 'til now. lotto it is! hehe i was so confident i'd win the jackpot. hehe i didn't. hello?!?

  • another monday... another shift in my sleeping hours.

  • sometimes, i get tired of listening to stupid questions.. i know there are no stupid questions. believe me... THERE ARE! am i bad? i just lose control sometimes and think that way. there are curious questions. yeah... some are just plain stupid. (not the person... but the question). and yuh... i ask them too... sometimes.

  • amoy imburnal dito ngayon. maui, the plumber, is fixing our drainage. our bathroom's all clogged... and the toilet... shucks... the toilet. you have to wait in vain... are you or are you not gonna flush? hihi ang baboy.

  • that's it. =)

wowowie and magnifico and the 5th

got home at around 8am and noli de castro's voice was airing over the radio... reporting that something has gone really wrong over at ULTRA. and i was really dazed and had to go to sleep.

when i woke up, the same bad news was aired over at tv patrol. apparently, the ULTRA has a 10k capacity but around 20k people rushed to watch the 1st year anniversary of wowowie and somehow hope that they could bag some of the prizes the show was supposed to give away today. stampede = major uh oh...

and so the hope twisted to a nightmare for the almost 70 dead people, hundreds injured, missing, and thousands who don't even know how they could go back to their respective provinces and homes. one couple only had the bunny bag of their daughter left as a memory... others were trembling with trauma and disbelief... others were wailing and mourning... everything was just so sad.

it was terrifying just seeing their faces and hearing their cries over the tv... what more if you were there. with every scene, my mom and i just dabbed our eyes... tears of sympathy and sorrow. i don't even want to imagine how it would feel like to search for your loved one among the lifeless bodies, wrapped in white linens, lined on the hospital floor. and how would it feel like to search for your loved one's face... among those sorrowed and pained faces that they flashed on a monitor in a funeral parlor. this was where they brought the unidentified bodies...

and after the news, magnifico was up on abscbn and i got curious of the plot. nothing fancy, nothing new. the same filipino film - drama and culture all. except it effectively portrayed a heart so pure and clean and generous... and i wouldn't mind recommending this film to everyone in my network. it's not only a tear jerker but i guess (and hope) it will move us away from selfishness, instead drive us towards love and compassion and caring.

my eyes are swollen now... i swear... it was a good cry... and i'm having mixed emotions today... i'm hungry... it's a very windy day...

tomorrow's the fifth of feb... and will mark our 9th month together. heck. am i supposed to say i'm looking forward for a bright day? how could i hope for a bright day after the horrible accident. this is rather inappropriate... out of place... mixed emotions, right?...

    rainbow

left the office at around 7am. argh. not my idea of a wednesday. i was hoping i could go home at 6am today 'cause i really really really want to sleep again. 9 hours of sleep doesn't guarantee a general feeling of wellness. in fact i felt sooo sleepy last night.

bus ride from ayala to baclaran... rather peaceful... until we all heard a bang somewhere behind the bus and i figured there must have been a problem with one of the bus tires. so we had to halt for quite some time and i was getting irritated and grumpy... heck i want to sleep.

so i got off the bus, waited for an fx and... today happens to be the 1st of feb... the 1st wednesday of the month... so the baclaran crowd will probably double in volume. this would also mean the traffic will be baaad this early. grumpy-meter... not good!

it started to drizzle - while the sun was starting to shine. and thoughts ran through my mind...
    1) most probably, may kinakasal na tikbalang ngayon
    2) i've never seen so tiny rain drizzles... it actually looks cute
    3) pero that doesn't defeat the fact that i am grumpy today.
    4) i looked towards the bay... towards the clouds... uy may rainbow... double glanced... "UY! MAY RAINBOOOOOOOW!!!"... i swear i smiled!

and i marvelled again... like it's my first time to see a rainbow. ok... grumpy feelings are gone. i love life again! haha all because of a wonderful rainbow. i can't remember the last time i saw one... maybe during HS science experiments on prisms pa?

the lady in front of me was as grumpy as i was.. i so wanted to tell her, "hey, lady, there's a rainbow! look behind you!"... but i can't. she looked so snappy.

and i took my phone and just took a picture of the source of my smile today. sorry... my phone cam's not that techie... doesn't really give justice to the beauty my eyes captured earlier. and my cam gave off that cam sound... and ms. grouchy gave me a stern look like, "who told you to take pictures?"... kebs ko. i'm happy. you're not.

yeah... the magnificent rainbow, the wonderful clouds, the beautiful morning, a portion of the lush trees, and yes, errr... the electric wires. hehe!

    chasing liberty

i woke up before my alarm rang... a few minutes before 11am. slept at 2 after some crazy q&as with yongyong... crazy they were!

so i went downstairs, thought of something worth doing.. like ummm... watching tv. not bad, eh!

i happened to scan on hbo and chasing liberty was just starting. my kuya said it was a good one... so chasing liberty it is.

and it was.. hay... medyo impossible ang plot nya pero it made me cry. hehe i'm no president's daughter but i don't why i felt her sorrow. anuvash.

talking with my 2 girlfriends now... michie and thecx. awww... reunion via chat. better than nothing!

    drained

i feel so drained today but i can't sleep at 2am 'cause it's not my bed time. darn it.

whatever transpired there that moment? all i know is back then, i wanted to be swallowed wholly by anything that could swallow a caths. it really isn't a big deal, i guess... but i never expected that from anybody with tact. whatever happened to good judgment and discretion and sensitivity?

i tried to fight it for the longest time but they poured down anyway... after a long, long, long time. hey, that's a first. history is made today... a bad history. and when i recall it, awww... it sucks... to the maximum level. i could still hear every word. sucked... sucks.

but it was a nice gesture. you still earn a thousand points for patience and persistence to get things done the right way... to end it all with grace. i know i acted bitchy and stubborn for hours... over something where the cause is a complete mystery to you. well now you know... and it's over.

so it's gone now? i hope...

and off to another draining thing... i hate cold shoulder treatments... darn it. i get affected... every inch of me. but what can i do? it's been going on for a couple of days now and i'm beginning to get bothered by it. i know how you feel... when you think everybody is against you and you limit your every move 'cause you might just have a chance to speak with them... and you don't like that. sucks...

the way i see things, i'm your only "buddy" now. don't isolate yourself. no man is an island. argh. i wish i could tell you that... sucks... drained drained.

    bestfriend ni erpat

tito joey was (is still, i guess?) my papa's bestfriend way back their phillips days. he's the exact opposite of my father though... i dunno what made them jive. while my father was this creature ublessed with words, tito joey is the one with the wisest words - and he always shared them. while my father was... ehem, some kinuva mabisyo, tito joey could pass for the father-of-the-year-kahit-na-lifetime awardee. i guess that was his role in my father's life... to be the constant mentor/friend/guardian/reminder. i had very clear memories of his presence way back when we were young... and my papa would get into trouble... and he'll just be there to support him, us in any way - even when his family moved to the states some time in the 90s.

he called mama last friday and told her that he's here in manila and he'd love to see us all. so mama arranged for a poj dinner for last night sana, but he cancelled the last minute and said that he would prefer if we had a simple lunch here at home... so lunch cook-out it is.

i've always found comfort in his mere presence and top it all off with his gentle, wise, wise words. he asked us how we are and gave us updates on his wife, kids, and life as well. he's the type of man you would want to believe and digest his every word 'cause you know he speaks of the truth and the best things in life.

he'll go back to his home tomorrow morning and... wala lang.. it's just wonderful to have people like him around. papa's not around anymore but we're still so blessed to have a friend like him. ingat po lagi. =)

galing galing naman ni pacquaio! mwah!

walang body ang post ko. title lang. kse di na kailangan. bwahaha...i should probably stop talking now, kse nagkakaron na ng body ang supposed to be bodyless post ko. argh... i'm soooo...

    the heavens gained an angel

he was a month premature and born without a father. we learned his dad has another family - and didn't give support in any way... financial, moral, emotional... nothing.

since his mom is unemployed as well, he was humbly born in a so-so hospital. doctors had to immediately incubate him so he'll have chances of survival. i heard the 8th month is a bad time to be born. i don't understand why but that's the way it is.

so poor baby was lying there with life support and all. we didn't have a chance to see him for visitors were off-limits in this section. God bless the patients of that hospital. in that condition, you need all the blessings you could get to make it.

we were delighted to see him though. his mom took some pictures of him... with tubes and all. broke our heart to see him in that manner, but we're happy as well to see some flicker of hope in this little bundle of gift. his mom swore she saw him smile... i bet it's a heavenly sight.

for weeks, they battled the hazards of life. it was another miracle that we have a relative in red cross. baby needed blood - a lot - and it was easier that you have contacts inside red cross.

i thought... he'll probably make it. he's been through a lot and yet he fights... he'll live.

yesterday, i had a dream... and in my dream, he was out and alive and strong. this handsome baby, fair-skinned and tangos nose and chinita eyes, was talking! and i was playing with him. i was teaching him how to thumb wrestle. he was a bit grumpy though 'cause he just got out of the hospital. what could you expect? he was so adorable.

and then i woke up. wondered how he and his mom are doing. was about to send them a message but shrugged the thought off for later. and i watched tv. phone rang and it was tita... "wala na baby".

and his mom sent us a message... "nung nawala sya, binuhat ko sya bago sya binalot. first time ko syang nakarga..."

and i thought he'll make it... the heavens probably need another angel.

    tapos na ang pista

haha... 3 posts for the fiesta.

hmmm... what happened today? mom and i (talagang sinali ko ang sarili ko. parang totoo) cooked some food just in case may stray visitors na dumating... hawaiian spareribs, spinach something, pochero, potato chicken salad, maja blanca (c/o ate aida. orders? contact me hehe this is the best maja blanca i've tasted!). the lone visitor was aira. lunch lang and videoke pero she never sang. kuya dominated the errrr... entertainment? hehe you'll be entertained pag narinig mo sya kumanta. promise.

then i bought 2 ultraelectromagneticjam albums (which is a nice album, btw) for michie and thecx and dropped by michie's house to just say goodbye and hug and kiss and send her away. i faked some tears... and she just gave away that intoxicating michie laugh. huhu she left at 10pm. the last message she sent me was "Plane na po ko. Bubye" i'll miss this girl... again. and another year or so will pass before we meet again. (i have this thing about saving messages from people whom i won't see for a long time. i have some from harbs, jason, michie, ate elaine. hehe senti freak.)

and then there's the 6pm mass... na wala kong naintindihan. maingay ang kabataan sa likod ko. kse naman late na kami dumating sa simbahan. hay sorry po.

and then dinner and the procession around 9pm. goosebumps. teary-eyed... for the hundreds of enthusiastic devotees. i bet majority of them aren't even from here, but they did join the procession. heart-warming. =)

bisperas ng pista at ang paglisan plus side dish na paghingi ng paumanhin

ayos. noli ba ito o el fili? hehe...

ok. it turned out people are making the feast as festive as it could be... last minute preparations here and there: banderitas put up in an instant (pinintasan ni rico ang banderitas ng street namin... bakit daw sponsored ng globe at kung anu-ano pang produkto... hmp. walang pakialamanan), tita celia's meat shop crowded with dozens of buyers (obviously buying something to grace their dining tables tomorrow), mosikos traversing the streets every hour or so, the traditional (hmmm is 4 years traditional na?) serenata in the parish. sounds good and will look and feel even better tomorrow when the streets will be closed for vehicles and hundreds of people will parade from morning 'til midnight. magpapacute ba hehe.

a strange coincidence that it is also fiesta in mike's neighborhood... hiwalay muna tayo sa weekend na 'to. kanya-kanyang fiesta, bakit ba? hehe. fiesta mo, fiesta mo. fiesta ko, fiesta ko. hehe.

i was supposed to serve at the 9am mass tomorrow... complete with filipiniana costume. when was the last time i wore something like that? elementary? i borrowed denise's "female barong" and it didn't fit. so i backed out and i'll just be an ordinary citizen tomorrow. yey!

bought a ref today. after hmmm... 8 years of service... it's not that bad, huh! our old ref, bought 2nd hand, finally had it and retired. sayang naman ang mumunting salu-salo kung mapapanis lang at hindi mareref... so new ref it is! woohoo!

hmmm... all good things have to end and for michie's case, her good days will have to end tomorrow. end for now, that is. 'cause i'm sure after roughly 500 days (i counted!), every day will be simply perfect, glorious. congratulations and good luck!

    for the side dish:
i'm really sorry for being bitchy sometimes... i have an excuse... i'm a girl and i'm licensed to be bitchy and sumpungin once a month (minimun lang yan)... *bats lashes... despite being sungit and unreasonable and all, i'm thankful for "just" constantly hearing the gentle voice "bat ka ba nang-aaway?", "tumawag ka lang ata para awayin ako.", "may sumpong ka na naman?", "inaaway mo na naman ako.", "pasalamat ka love kita", "ako ba, walang karapatang magtampo?", "tampo ka na naman?"...

thank you. so much... =) bawal magsawa ha! love naman kita eh hihi...

    pista na naman

five days to go and it's sto. nino fiesta na naman. a couple of festive activities happen on the feast day.

the main street is closed for the countless mosiko bands that pass by every 15 minutes. thousands of people from anywhere and everywhere walk along this main street to visit their friends' houses 'cause almost every home has handa to "feed" hehe the visitors.

there's also a banderitas contest where, obviously, the most colorful and original and tipid banderitas will bag the gold prize.

the procession in the late evening, where the people carry their nino statues and dance their hearts out. gives me goosebumps everytime i see this... like some divine force has taken over each participant when they dance.

when i was in grade 6, we had visitors during fiesta and my mom "forced" me hehe to play the piano for the visitors... duh! parang i'm a people person e no! parang i'm a performer! duh!

oh there's the perya along daangbukid.. kung saan may ferris wheel, roller coaster, merry-go-round (na most probably matetetano ka pag sumakay ka), at ang mga saklaan, bilihan ng poor colored sisiws, kwintas na may ilaw-ilaw at kung anu-ano pang mga bagay-bagay na mahirap maipaliwanag.

that was how it was through the years...

this year though, things are a bit different.. the streets aren't lined with colorful banderitas yet and it doesn't look like the people are excited for sunday. =( dahil ba walang pera ang mga tao? di bale na sigurong walang banderitas, walang handa, basta thank the little child and give him a little wink for giving us countless blessings through the years...

    what's wrong with this pic?

we were browsing a wedding photographer's site, looking for good ideas for the motif of donna's wedding. and we were checking out if the photographer was able to capture the kilig moments for the couples in his gallery. yes, for some... made us mutter "awww" and "oooh". well, for the others, nah... walang kilig factor eh haha...

for the picture below (ya, i covered the eyes, dyahe naman. i don't know the couple e baka magalit sakin haha), medyo may moment. medyo kilig. pero something's definitely wrong. hehe... may ummm... sumingit sa gitna ng moment? hihi funny. at least she looks thrilled... it would be a big SOMETHING ELSE if she's making irap or tirik her mata haha! funny lang.

    N4 reunited

before the HS reunion was n4 reunion muna pala last friday. patsy said we should get together for merienda/reunion/despedida before she heads off to ohio... so friday came and with only 2 hours of sleep, i once again walked through the halls of spi to meet the n4 kids... yeah kids talga e no!

pizza and chicken and maja. what else could count for a perfect merienda? top it all off with a bunch of great people with great stories and updates. nakakamiss sila hihi... patsy (though lalayo k papa nick, hmmm 6 hours is not that bad! kaya yan! go tiger! haha), anabelle, jowa, ben (malapit na nga bang ikasal si jowa at ben? hihi), jz, jay, denver, david, edz (uy crush pala ni edz si ano?), thomas (na nalipatan na ang lahat ng team hehe astig!)... did i miss a name? i guess that's it!

btw, merong perfect hirit si roy nung nagkita kami sa canteen...

roy: uy! kelan ka pa dumating?
caths: ah... ehh.. dumating? ngayon lang? [puzzled to the highest level]

at hindi pala nya alam na wala na ako sa spi. hehe way to go, roy!

tapos i dropped by the spi coop office na rin to get my check... that's it? ang liit naman... =( kala ko marami akong pera... awww...

and then, a little chika with joy and rocel. hay kakamiss. hmm... i heard a couple of "pumayat ka!" comments... and i thought i was gaining weight... ilusyunada! haha!

    i'm on drugs

hihi... this is my third day taking in the hopeful cure to my so-called "allergy cough". doc said that's the reason my cough stays on for the longest time... and i've been having 2-minute throat kati attacks every now aind then.

i was supposed to have myself checked last tuesday. when i got there (this is a nearby clinic where the doctors are a husband-wife team... and other people say they're a great pair of doctors), i was given a number card. ok number 34. i checked and they're currently processing number 9. darn it. at the rate they're going, i'll be checked in about 1.5 hours pa. so i was willing to wait... until i heard the receptionist whisper something to an irate patient, "ok lang naman po kay doktora sumingit eh, basta dodoblehin nyo yung bayad na P150, bale P300 na." watda... to hell with singit. i was tempted to get the bait pero i said why would i pay double? na-turn-off ako sa tandem na yun. i thought they were a compassionate pair... and they would tolerate this? to earn more? so that was it. i stood up, returned the number, and decided to come back the next day - the earliest time possible.. hehe kala ni doktora mauutakan nya ko.

so the next day came, i came in early. number 9 ako! yey! now who would want to singit! yey! so in i went to the room. i told doc that i have this cough for more than 3 weeks now.

    doc: "kumakati ba?"
caths: "opo. most of the time mga 3 minutes sobrang kati"
doc: "naku allergy cough yan! may trabaho ka ba?" [dollar dollar ang mata]
    caths: "opo"

pagdating ko sa pharmacy (na pagmamay-ari din nina doktora), kwenta kwenta si ate. ok 954 ang gamot.. argh ang mahal magkasakit. that's why i'm strictly sticking to the sched of the meds. don't wanna miss a thing. i might go over the whole process again. dollar dollar ang mata... argh...

buti na lang andun si gabi

heck... i don't even know if her nick's spelled that way... i guess i'm intoxicated with this little angel. lost in a herd of unfamiliar crowd, i was worried how i'll survive the afternoon/night. i know i could stay quiet if i have to but i haven't been that sober for a long time now. i guess i've been used to just blurting out my whatevers.

so we went in the house and there she was... gabi, the 3-year old angel... with her short wavy hair all oily and messed up, her feet dirty, and maybe it was choco stuff smudged on her chin and cheeks. she definitely needed a bath... but heck she was cute and adorable and i so wanted to hug her. she was playing with her toys and she was constantly flashing that adorable smile. she was too friendly even with a stranger like me... that could be dangerous at times.

i asked her what her name is and she answered shyly, "gabriel" awww... english speaking si gabi. sosyal... and if you ask her, and the answer is yes, she'll say "yaah" with a twang... sosyal hihi...

so the boys were doing their stuff. and i couldn't fit in so i played with gabi. we were making a necklace out of heart beads. we took turns in putting the piece together. "it's your turn! what color do you like?" she would ask... and i'd say "red!" and she would hand me the red heart bead and clap "yey!" when i've done my part. and she would say, "it's my turn!" and do her thing na. she sometimes had a hard time putting in the bead and she would shout "it's tooo haaard!" hihi so arte! but so cute. i sooo wanted to bite her cheeks hihi.

she was a good girl in every sense... koko put on her santa hat and she saw it. other kids might have cried "give me back my santa hat!!!" or "that's mine!" but she just smiled and said... "he's borrowing my santa hat..." awww love ko na sya. "there's salad in the ref if you want, huh" maybe her mom asked her to tell me that... but awww... awww... awww... she's so sweet. and didn't run out of smiles... and awww... basta...

i learned she has 4 kuyas so medyo glad to play with a girl sya. hehe parang ako. glad to play with a girl. i always wondered how things would be if i had an ate or a little sister.

1 lang talaga masasabi ko... buti na lang andun si gabi.
